McDonald's to test paper straws in U.S.

CHICAGO (Fox 32 News) - McDonald's is switching from plastic to paper straws at restaurants in the UK and Ireland.

The company is also planning to test paper straws at some restaurants in the United States this year, Fox News reports.

The change comes as the European Union moves to ban non-reusable plastic items like straws, silverware, and "ear buds" (what Americans call "Q-tips").
