Quick turnaround as Bears face Packers Thursday night

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - John Fox wasn't particularly interested in discussing the Bears failed two-point conversion against the Broncos at Monday's media session.

While it appeared that several Bears players didn't realize quarterback Jay Cutler had audibled to a running play, Fox boiled it down to a lack of execution. Matt Slauson, however, admitted the Bears didn't have proper communication on that play, which was a problem he said plagued the offense most of the afternoon.

Now, the Bears quickly turn their attention to the Packers and a Thursday night matchup in Green Bay. The fast turnaround is difficult on the players both mentally and physically. Cornerback Tracy Porter grudgingly accepts Thursday night games as part of football, however, he says referring to the short week, "It sucks."

Slauson took a different perspective, agreeing that the players have little time to correct issues from Sunday, but pointing out that the Packers are in the same boat.

The team didn't practice Monday, but released an "injury report" nonetheless. Both Matt Forte and Alshon Jeffrey were listed as limited, while Martellus Bennett would not have practiced.

The Bears also released backup quarterback Jimmy Clausen and promoted David Fales from the practice squad. John Fox said other teams had inquired about Fales, forcing the Bears to either promote him or lose him.
