Six nights of ramp and lane closures will start Saturday as crews continue work on a new Illinois Route 390 bridge over I-290 in northwest suburban Itasca.

One lane of I-290 will close in each direction between Devon Avenue and Irving Park Road starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, according to the Illinois Tollway. A second lane in each direction will close at 10 p.m., while a third westbound lane will close at midnight.

Intermittent full closures of the westbound lanes lasting 15 minutes will occur from 1-7 a.m. Sunday, the tollway said. Lanes will begin to reopen by 6 a.m., with all lanes expected to be open by 1 p.m. Similar closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly until Tuesday morning.

The ramp leading from eastbound Route 390 to westbound I-290 will also close at 1 a.m. Sunday and reopen by 7 a.m., according to tollway officials. Similar closures are scheduled from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. through Tuesday morning.

A detour will reroute traffic along Prospect Avenue, Devon Avenue, Rohlwing Road and Biesterfield Road to reach westbound I-290.

Additional lane closures are scheduled to begin on I-290 Tuesday night, according to the tollway. One lane will close in each direction starting at 7 p.m., followed by a second at 9 p.m. and a third eastbound lane at 11 p.m. Intermittent, 15-minute full closures of the eastbound lanes will start at 1 a.m. Wednesday and last until 5 a.m. Similar closures are planned from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday morning.

The ramp from westbound Route 390 to eastbound I-290 will also be closed from 1-5 a.m. Wednesday through Friday, the tollway said. A detour will reroute westbound Route 390 traffic onto Meacham Road to reenter eastbound Route 390 and access westbound I-290.
