CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) – The Illinois Department of Transportation is talking about adding an express toll lane to the Stevenson Expressway.
A public meeting to discuss the plan is scheduled for Wednesday in Countryside.
The plan would build one inbound and one outbound lane down the middle of the current expressway.
The express lane would run from Interstate 355 in Bolingbrook all the way downtown but it would likely be a toll lane.
IDOT says another possibility is a carpool lane.
The first phase of the project is to study just how much traffic relief the toll lanes could bring.
