Metra modifies schedule, adds passes for holiday travel

CHICAGO (STMW) - Metra will offer more passes and change their schedule on select days for the holidays.

Certain lines will have more trains in the afternoon Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 30-31, according to a statement from Metra. Some lines will also have an extra train after midnight or the last scheduled departure.

An unlimited 2-day, $8 pass will be available for riders Dec. 24 and 25 and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, according to Metra. Trains will run on a Sunday schedule for both Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Additionally, starting Dec. 21 through Jan. 3, kids 11 years old and under can ride every Metra train for free in the company of a fare-paying adult. Each adult can bring up to three kids to ride for free, according to Metra.
