Milwaukee North trains delayed after train fatally strikes person near Edgebrook

CHICAGO (STMW) - All Metra Milwaukee District North Line trains are delayed on the Northwest Side after a train fatally struck a person near Edgebrook.

Train No. 2141 hit a person, whose age was not immediately known, just after 6 p.m. between the Forest glen and Edgebrook train stations, according to Metra spokesperson Michael Gillis.

The Cook County medical examiner said investigators were sent out to a scene of a person killed by a Metra train.

As of 7:30 p.m., all inbound and outbound trains are running with 80 to 100 minute delays.

Train No. 2154, which was scheduled to leave Deerfield at 6:59 p.m. and arrive in Chicago at 7:53 p.m., will not operate tonight, according to Metra. The next inbound train will be No. 2158, which is scheduled to leave Grayslake at 8:15 p.m. and arrive in Chicago at 9:34 p.m.

Chicago Police officers are at the scene helping with traffic control, according to a police source.
