Ramps from Kennedy, Ryan to outbound Ike closed Sunday

The ramps from the inbound Ryan and Kennedy expressways to the outbound Eisenhower Expressway will be closed Sunday to allow workers to place the final support beams for the bridge deck on the new Jane Byrne Circle flyover ramp.

Weather permitting, the Illinois Dept. of Transportation will close the ramp from the inbound Kennedy (I-90/94) to the outbound Eisenhower (I-290) from Jackson Street to Halsted Street from 12:01-10 a.m. Sunday.

Traffic will be directed to the outbound Dan Ryan (I-90/94) to the Taylor Street exit to Roosevelt Road. Motorists should go west on Roosevelt, north on Ashland and west on Van Buren, and use the Van Buren ramp back to the westbound Eisenhower, according to IDOT.

The ramp from the inbound Ryan to the outbound Eisenhower will be closed from 12:01-8 a.m. Sunday. A posted detour will direct traffic to exit at Roosevelt, then go west on Roosevelt, north on Ashland and west on Van Buren to use that ramp to the westbound Eisenhower.

IDOT estimates the new flyover bridge will be completed next winter, and will improve efficiency, traffic flow and safety for a stretch of road that see about 400,000 vehicles per day.
