Tollway construction to bring road closures to NW suburbs

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Several road closures are scheduled in Elk Grove Village and Des Plaines are scheduled throughout the month of September as the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway bridge is rebuilt.

Long-term lane closures on Oakton Street in Elk Grove Village and overnight lane closures on Wolf Road and Touhy Avenue in Des Plaines are scheduled as the bridge is rebuilt over these roads, according to a statement from the Illinois Tollway.

On Oakton Street, the right westbound lane is scheduled to close the week of Sept. 7 through the fall. Two eastbound lanes will remain open to traffic, but the right eastbound lane will close daily through the fall between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the statement.

On Touhy Avenue, overnight lane closures are scheduled the week of Sept. 14 and the week of Sept. 28. Wolf Road overnight closures are scheduled the week of Sept. 21, according to the statement.

For both the Touhy Avenue and Wolf Road closures, one lane will close in both directions at 6 p.m. with full roadway closures lasting 15 minutes between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. All lanes are scheduled to reopen by 6 a.m., according to the statement.

Additional lane closures and traffic shifts, like shoulder closures and lane reductions, will be schedule on local roadways as the construction continues.
