Law enforcement officials have captured an inmate who escaped Wednesday morning from the Indiana State Prison while on a work detail.

Michigan City Police say Travis Hornett, 39, escaped prison grounds around 11 a.m. and was recaptured at a vacant home Wednesday afternoon.

Neither Hornett nor any officers were injured in the recapture.

“We greatly appreciate the effort and assistance of the state police and local police agencies who worked side-by-side with our Fugitive Apprehension Unit to get offender Hornett back into custody,” Indiana Department of Correction Commissioner Rob Carter said.
