1 dead, 2 critically injured after SUV strikes pole in South Loop

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A woman was killed and two other people were critically injured in a crash early Saturday in the South Loop, police said.

About 2:30 a.m., the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was going south on Clark Street when they turned left onto Cermak Road and struck a pole, Chicago Police said.

Cindy Ramirez, 19, and two other people were taken to Stroger Hospital, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Ramirez, who lived in the Southwest Side Clearing neighborhood, was pronounced dead at 3 a.m.

The other two people were listed in critical condition, police said.
