Original Billy Goat Tavern reopens in Chicago after renovations

CHICAGO (Fox 32 News) - A familiar sound is ringing out once again from an iconic Chicago tavern.

The famous Billy Goat Tavern on Lower Michigan Avenue reopened its doors on Friday after a three-month renovation.

There are new bathrooms, new plumbing, lighting and electrical.

But all of what makes the Billy Goat the Billy Goat hasn't been touched, including walls covered with hundreds of pictures, newspaper articles and the bylines of some of Chicago’s greatest journalists.

The Billy Goat on Lower Michigan opened in 1964, and they'll be ready for St. Pat’s on Saturday with plenty of green beer.
