Photographer/Editor: WFLD is seeking a high caliber news photographer with a minimum of 3-5 years major market experience. Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred. Must have previous ENG/SNG experience, be able to shoot and edit a package in the field, perform and execute a microwave live shot. Successful candidate must be familiar with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premire and File Protocol Transfers (FTP). Candidate must be agile, able to lift over fifty (50) pounds (equipment), walk carrying camera and tripod, batteries and LiveU backpack, perform in extreme hot/cold weather conditions and be willing to work weekends, holidays and overnights. Per Diem Writer: WFLD is seeking a freelance writer to write stories assigned by producers, gather facts, find video and oversee editing of stories. Responsible for the story content and accuracy. Perform duties of line producer when assigned. Must perform all other duties as assigned and deemed appropriate. REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have 2-3 years writing experience, experience as a line producer and computer knowledge preferred. Must be creative, concise, detail oriented, able to handle deadline pressure and take direction from producers. Per Diem Sports Anchor/Reporter: WFLD is looking for a dynamic Per Diem Sports Anchor/Reporter who brings a passion for sports and can connect with our audience. A dynamic sports anchor and reporter who has broad knowledge of the Chicago sports scene. The position requires the ability to anchor, report, and produce content for the newscast on all platforms. The Sports/Anchor reporter must be active on social media, and have the ability to provide updates throughout the work shift. The right candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and possess strong journalism skills. REQUIREMENTS: Possess a degree in journalism or related field and have at least three years of experience as a Sports Anchor or Reporter is required; the ability to communicate well in a live setting; the willingness to travel and work weekends/nights required; must have a demonstrable resume reel of live and packaged reports on subjects ranging from serious to breaking, to lighter sports feature stories. Technician: WFLD is seeking a Production Technician to operate auxiliary equipment as part of FOX32’s live news and sports productions.  These include but are not limited to robotic cameras, graphics and audio. The ability to excel under pressure in the fast paced environment of live local news alongside a talented team of producers and directors is required. The Production Technician will serve as the technical co-pilot for all news and sports programming, experience with studio LED lighting, ETC lighting consoles, Ross studio camera robotics, Calrec audio consoles, and Chyron graphics systems is preferred. The ability to mix multiple audio sources during any news or sports program.  Experience in an automated production control room environment. Interaction with talent and guests using excellent interpersonal communication, verbal skills and a professional demeanor is critical. REQUIREMENTS: Prefer candidates with 5 or more years of television production experience. Strong attention to detail and the ability to proactively isolate and resolve technical problems within network and broadcast systems. A team player that is able to work independently as required. In-depth troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform successfully under pressure are essential. Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks. Previous experience and knowledge in an IT architecture and infrastructure is a plus. Must be flexible with schedule including working on weekends and holidays. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs. Technician:  WFLD is seeking an experienced Broadcast Maintenance Technician. The engineering position maintains and installs equipment at the studio and transmitter facility, provides broadcast engineering support for all news and production operations and provides assistance and training to operators. This position will perform duties at the studio including maintenance of master control and production automation systems, ingest and playback servers, routing systems, satellite distribution, microwave systems, networking equipment, server hardware, and other various facility needs as assigned. The position will also provide timely and professional support for fast-paced news and broadcast television environment. The ideal candidate will also have strong working knowledge of all components related to the transmission system, including electrical, cooling systems, encoders, exciters, antennas, and other related RF equipment. REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of five years of experience repairing and maintaining broadcast equipment and their related components. Must have a strong background in information technology and knowledge of IP networking, computer and software maintenance. Previous experience with Grass Valley iTX automation systems, Sony production switchers, ELC automation, Vinten robotics systems, Chyron graphics systems, Grass Valley routers, Evertz multiviewer, and BitCentral news playback is a plus. Willingness and ability to work varied schedules. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, work efficiently, and meet deadlines. Understanding of the requirements of a 24/7/365 live news operation. A bachelor degree in technical and/or electronics preferred; equivalent education/military/experience/training is acceptable. Producer: WFLD's News Department is seeking an experienced individual for an immediate opportunity in it's newsroom as a Producer. The Producer will generate fresh and engaging content to newscasts and digital. He/she is accountable for gathering, writing, editing, and producing content along with supporting anchors and reporters. The Producer will edit VOs, SOTs, teases, and the occasional PKG for newcasts; mine and facilitate content to news and digital teams; download video and create placeholders within rundown. This person will serve as a "go-to" person for EPs, assignment editors, reporters, photographers and editors regarding editing and video requests. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, or broadcast required. Minimum of five years' experience in a medium to large television market preferred. Ability to mine content from all sources and possess the technological expertise to write, edit, produce and distribute content to all platforms is required. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the latest ways to utilize social media, both as a news gathering tool and to communicate with our audience. Account Executive: The Fox O&O duopoly in Chicago is looking for a highly motivated sales person to join our Local Sales team. The position will primarily focus on developing new business for Broadcast TV. The successful candidate must be able to identify qualified targets, use strong communication and presentation skills throughout the sales process and maintain a high closing ratio. We are looking for someone that can bring together all our resources (Top Rated Local News, Fox Network, Fox Sports, My Network TV, Web Sponsorships and Promotions) in a creative manner to achieve a high level of results. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategically negotiating existing business along with obtaining incremental dollars from the existing market and building strong client relationships. Responsible for completing administrative tasks such as weekly forecasts, monthly reports, new business trackers, weekly meetings forms and the credit and collection of all accounts. REQUIREMENTS: Ideal candidate must possess a proven track record of success in sales. A four-year college degree is preferred. Media sales experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of media math, TV ratings and web metrics is a plus. Candidate must be a self-starter with strong verbal and communication skills. Promotions Producer/Writer: The News Promo-Producer will write, produce and edit promos, including daily topicals, station and news image spots, POP’s, network prime and program spots for the Fox Duopoly in Chicago, IL. The Topical Promotions Producer will be responsible for writing/producing/editing Fox Chicago news promotions under deadlines; production of image identity campaigns; production of compelling spots that take a unique approach and connect with viewers and increasing view tune-in through the production of top quality promotions. REQUIREMENTS: 5+ years experienced non-linear editor; degree in Communications field; flexibility to meet tight deadlines; ability to execute distinct marketing and branding strategies. Avid platform experience is a strong plus. Motion design skills, strong writing skills; a good understanding of how to sell news stories and station programming to target demographics.
