Traffic Manager: WFLD-WPWR has an immediate opening for a Traffic Manager. The Traffic Manager will work directly under the traffic director. Manage traffic staff to ensure complete and correct daily execution of station logs. Must be able to fill in as back up to log editor and copy coordinator. Train new traffic personnel in all traffic work functions. Work with programming personnel to build and format shows to logs. Manage inventory as assigned by traffic director in addition to working with sales management. REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years traffic management experience with proficiency in Wide Orbit. Must be initiative driven, able to work independently and with a team. Per Diem Writer: WFLD is seeking a freelance writer to write stories assigned by producers, gather facts, find video and oversee editing of stories. Responsible for the story content and accuracy. Perform duties of line producer when assigned. Must perform all other duties as assigned and deemed appropriate. REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have 2-3 years writing experience, experience as a line producer and computer knowledge preferred. Must be creative, concise, detail oriented, able to handle deadline pressure and take direction from producers. Reliability, good news judgment, and factual accuracy are crucial. Director of Engineering: WFLD Fox 32 Chicago is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering. Reporting to the VP Engineering, the successful candidate will directly supervise the engineering maintenance department staff; develop and implement systems to ensure fault tolerant and error free operation of stations broadcast equipment; oversee the design, installation, and preventive maintenance of broadcast facilities and equipment; establish and maintain internal technical documentation and standards, which ensure stations compliance with FCC, OSHA, EPA, and local regulations; monitors applicable budgets and be responsible for satisfactory completion of assigned projects. Duties also include training technicians in the operation and maintenance of specific equipment for the implementation of applicable procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the television industry with solid design engineering and troubleshooting skills. A degree in Engineering, Broadcast, or IT related field is preferred. Prior management skills, similar position held and/or training experience is highly desired. Working knowledge of the following technologies: full power UHF transmitters, microwave systems, encoding technologies, master control and production automation systems, wired and wireless networking technologies, server and file-based storage hardware, advanced experience with digital video and audio routing, EAS, studio control room and engineering IT systems and a knowledge of electrical systems, UPS, and standby generators and record keeping. The position will focus on traditional agency business as well as on developing new business for our broadcast and digital platforms. The successful candidate must be able to identify qualified targets, use strong communication and presentation skills throughout the sales process and maintain a high closing ratio. We are looking for someone that can bring together all our resources (Local News, Fox Network, Fox Sports, The CW, Digital and Promotions) in a creative manner to achieve high level results. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategically negotiating existing business along with obtaining incremental dollars from the existing market and building strong client relationships. Responsible for completing administrative tasks such as weekly/monthly reports, weekly meetings and the credit and collection of all accounts. Broadcast Maintenance Technician: WFLD is seeking an experienced Broadcast Maintenance Technician. The engineering position maintains and installs equipment at the studio and transmitter facility, provides broadcast engineering support for all news and production operations and provides assistance and training to operators. This position will perform duties at the studio including maintenance of master control and production automation systems, ingest and playback servers, routing systems, satellite distribution, microwave systems, networking equipment, server hardware, and other various facility needs as assigned. The position will also provide timely and professional support for fast-paced news and broadcast television environment. The ideal candidate will also have strong working knowledge of all components related to the transmission system, including electrical, cooling systems, encoders, exciters, antennas, and other related RF equipment. News Photographer: WFLD is seeking a high caliber news photographer with a minimum of 3-5 years major market experience. Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred. Must have previous ENG/SNG experience, be able to shoot and edit a package in the field, perform and execute a microwave live shot. Successful candidate must be familiar with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premire and File Protocol Transfers (FTP). Candidate must be agile, able to lift over fifty (50) pounds (equipment), walk carrying camera and tripod, batteries and LiveU backpack, perform in extreme hot/cold weather conditions and be willing to work weekends, holidays and overnights. News Producer: WFLD's News Department is seeking an experienced individual for an immediate opportunity in it's newsroom as a Producer. The Producer will generate fresh and engaging content to newscasts and digital. He/she is accountable for gathering, writing, editing, and producing content along with supporting anchors and reporters. The Producer will edit VOs, SOTs, teases, and the occasional PKG for newcasts; mine and facilitate content to news and digital teams; download video and create placeholders within rundown. This person will serve as a "go-to" person for EPs, assignment editors, reporters, photographers and editors regarding editing and video requests. Freelance Production Technician: WFLD/WPWR has an opening for a skilled Freelance Production Technician. The Production Technician will operate auxiliary equipment as part of FOX32’s live news and sports productions. These include but are not limited to robotic cameras, graphics and audio. The Production Technician will serve as the technical co-pilot for all news and sports programming. Experience with studio LED lighting, ETC lighting consoles, Ross studio camera robotics, Calrec audio consoles, and Chyron graphics systems is preferred. Candidate should have experience in an automated production control room environment. Interaction with talent and guests using excellent interpersonal communication, verbal skills and a professional demeanor is critical. Others duties may include recording news and programming feeds and tuning in Satellite and Microwave signals. Preparing content for broadcast by ingesting and timing media as well as judging technical quality. Previous experience with or ability to learn Grass Valley iTX master control automation system is also helpful. Knowledge of windows server/client platforms, high performance storage systems, and video encoding/delivery systems is a plus. REQUIREMENTS: Five or more years of television production experience, preferred; strong attention to detail and the ability to proactively isolate and resolve technical problems within network and broadcast systems; a team player that is able to work independently as required; previous experience and knowledge in an IT architecture and infrastructure is a plus.
