RESPONSIBILITIES: Create compelling, UX-focused content related to news, events and topics relevant to local users and beyond, including text stories, photos/graphics, live streaming content, breaking news, and social media elements. Engage and build loyalty among communities. Serve as liaison to newsroom, ensuring digital and social dominance. Reach and engage users on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and beyond. Work with Group Content Team and other FTS markets to distribute high-interest stories at scale. Follow group standards. Monitor real-time analytics. Other duties as deemed necessary and assigned. REQUIREMENTS: 3+ years experience developing and publishing content, including news, on digital and social platforms preferred. BA/BS degree, preferably in Journalism, Communications or related field with emphasis on digital publishing. Excellent writer and storyteller. Superior news judgment. VP, Engineering & Operations: WFLD/WPWR is seeking an experienced Vice President, Engineering and Operations. The VP reports directly to the V.P., General Manager. In addition to supervising the entire Engineering Department, the candidate’s primary charter will be to provide, manage, and maintain operations of all technical equipment as well as supervise performance of technical personnel. The successful incumbent will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining daily oversight of local Hub/Spoke technology to produce efficient, flawless operations. He/she must effectively manage engineering, production, news technical facilities, security, mechanical systems and tower/transmitter. He/she must develop and implement current and long range technical and technological operation plans, prepare departmental expense budgets and oversee the preparation of both current and future capital plans. Manage all technical elements of the Station's Repack project along with other associated aspects of the process. Must possess the ability to establish procedures and standards for operation and maintenance of equipment and studio operations. Responsible for station compliance with FCC, OSHA and FAA regulations. REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have at least 7 to 10 years’ experience in a medium to large television market. SBE certification is preferred. Significant technical expertise in the planning, implementation and maintenance of television station facilities, including RF facilities. Demonstrated knowledge of IT based broadcast systems including ELC and iTX environments. Sales Assistant: WFLD/WPWR seeks a highly motivated individual to join our sales assistant team. The ideal candidate will assist members of the sales team with various projects, reports, and presentations. Core responsibilities include: data entry of broadcast orders, filing, organizing and verifying accuracy of all orders as well as complete follow through of the sales order process. Candidate must be extremely detailed oriented. The position requires daily interfacing with Sales Management, Accounting, Traffic, Research and Programming departments. REQUIREMENTS: College degree preferred. Qualifications include strong clerical, communication and problem-solving skills. Technician: WFLD is seeking a Production Technician to operate auxiliary equipment as part of FOX32’s live news and sports productions.  These include but are not limited to robotic cameras, graphics and audio. The ability to excel under pressure in the fast paced environment of live local news alongside a talented team of producers and directors is required. The Production Technician will serve as the technical co-pilot for all news and sports programming, experience with studio LED lighting, ETC lighting consoles, Ross studio camera robotics, Calrec audio consoles, and Chyron graphics systems is preferred. The ability to mix multiple audio sources during any news or sports program.  Experience in an automated production control room environment. Interaction with talent and guests using excellent interpersonal communication, verbal skills and a professional demeanor is critical. REQUIREMENTS: Prefer candidates with 5 or more years of television production experience. Strong attention to detail and the ability to proactively isolate and resolve technical problems within network and broadcast systems. A team player that is able to work independently as required. In-depth troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform successfully under pressure are essential. Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks. Previous experience and knowledge in an IT architecture and infrastructure is a plus. Must be flexible with schedule including working on weekends and holidays. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs. Technician:  WFLD is seeking an experienced Broadcast Maintenance Technician. The engineering position maintains and installs equipment at the studio and transmitter facility, provides broadcast engineering support for all news and production operations and provides assistance and training to operators. This position will perform duties at the studio including maintenance of master control and production automation systems, ingest and playback servers, routing systems, satellite distribution, microwave systems, networking equipment, server hardware, and other various facility needs as assigned. The position will also provide timely and professional support for fast-paced news and broadcast television environment. The ideal candidate will also have strong working knowledge of all components related to the transmission system, including electrical, cooling systems, encoders, exciters, antennas, and other related RF equipment. REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of five years of experience repairing and maintaining broadcast equipment and their related components. Must have a strong background in information technology and knowledge of IP networking, computer and software maintenance. Previous experience with Grass Valley iTX automation systems, Sony production switchers, ELC automation, Vinten robotics systems, Chyron graphics systems, Grass Valley routers, Evertz multiviewer, and BitCentral news playback is a plus. Willingness and ability to work varied schedules. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, work efficiently, and meet deadlines. Understanding of the requirements of a 24/7/365 live news operation. A bachelor degree in technical and/or electronics preferred; equivalent education/military/experience/training is acceptable. Producer: WFLD's News Department is seeking an experienced individual for an immediate opportunity in it's newsroom as a Producer. The Producer will generate fresh and engaging content to newscasts and digital. He/she is accountable for gathering, writing, editing, and producing content along with supporting anchors and reporters. The Producer will edit VOs, SOTs, teases, and the occasional PKG for newcasts; mine and facilitate content to news and digital teams; download video and create placeholders within rundown. This person will serve as a "go-to" person for EPs, assignment editors, reporters, photographers and editors regarding editing and video requests. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, or broadcast required. Minimum of five years' experience in a medium to large television market preferred. Ability to mine content from all sources and possess the technological expertise to write, edit, produce and distribute content to all platforms is required. Account Executive: The Fox O&O duopoly in Chicago is looking for a highly motivated sales person to join our Local Sales team. The position will primarily focus on developing new business for Broadcast TV. The successful candidate must be able to identify qualified targets, use strong communication and presentation skills throughout the sales process and maintain a high closing ratio. We are looking for someone that can bring together all our resources (Top Rated Local News, Fox Network, Fox Sports, My Network TV, Web Sponsorships and Promotions) in a creative manner to achieve a high level of results. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategically negotiating existing business along with obtaining incremental dollars from the existing market and building strong client relationships. Responsible for completing administrative tasks such as weekly forecasts, monthly reports, new business trackers, weekly meetings forms and the credit and collection of all accounts. REQUIREMENTS: Ideal candidate must possess a proven track record of success in sales. A four-year college degree is preferred. Media sales experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of media math, TV ratings and web metrics is a plus. Candidate must be a self-starter with strong verbal and communication skills. Promotions Producer/Writer: The News Promo-Producer will write, produce and edit promos, including daily topicals, station and news image spots, POP’s, network prime and program spots for the Fox Duopoly in Chicago, IL. The Topical Promotions Producer will be responsible for writing/producing/editing Fox Chicago news promotions under deadlines; production of image identity campaigns; production of compelling spots that take a unique approach and connect with viewers and increasing view tune-in through the production of top quality promotions. REQUIREMENTS: 5+ years experienced non-linear editor; degree in Communications field; flexibility to meet tight deadlines; ability to execute distinct marketing and branding strategies. Avid platform experience is a strong plus. Motion design skills, strong writing skills; a good understanding of how to sell news stories and station programming to target demographics.
