New details about why Clayne Crawford was fired from 'Lethal Weapon'

Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford on "Lethal Weapon"

HOLLYWOOD (Fox 32 News) - New information is emerging about why actor Clayne Crawford was fired from "Lethal Weapon" on Fox.

Crawford had played "Martin Riggs," the "crazy good cop" to Damon Wayans' "good cop" character of "Roger Murtaugh."

Variety reports that the production "had descended into chaos, grinding production to a halt on multiple occasions, splitting the crew into factions, and creating an environment so toxic that by season’s end, Pinkerton security guards were present on set at all times to ensure that disagreements would not deteriorate into physical violence."

In one incident, Crawford lost his cool when a scene was being shot near a public pool filled with children, and allegedly dropped several F-bombs. That situation led to one production staff member resigning on the spot.

In yet another incident, Crawford was directing an episode in which Wayans was injured during a stunt explosion. The resulting argument led to Wayans walking off the set. (Variety has a video clip in which Crawford called Wayans "the biggest crybaby pussy" after the injury.) The rest of the episode had to be re-written so that Crawford and Wayans were not in any scenes together, Variety reported.
