Cab driver stabbed during robbery attempt in Streamwood

STREAMWOOD (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A cab driver was stabbed during an attempted robbery early Friday in northwest suburban Streamwood.

The driver, a 46-year-old man, was called to Hillside Drive and Oltendorf Road about 2:30 a.m. to pick up a fare, according to Streamwood police. When he arrived, he was attacked inside his cab.

He was stabbed in the arm and chest during the attempted robbery, and was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where he was treated and released, police said.

The attacker is described as a 5-foot-8 black man with a slim build and short hair, according to police. Anyone with information should call police at (630) 736-3800.
