Man accused of pointing gun at off-duty cop in funeral procession
CHICAGO (STMW) - An off-duty Chicago Police officer traveling in a funeral procession honked his horn at another vehicle and moments later was met with the barrel of a gun, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.
Terrance Reed, 30, was in a vehicle that disregarded a funeral procession on the morning of Jan. 4, causing the off-duty officer to honk his horn, Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney April Gonzales said during a bail hearing Sunday.
The car Reed was in then pulled alongside the officer’s car in the 3200 block of West 82nd Street and Reed pointed a gun at the officer, Gonzales said.
The officer called 911 and the car Reed was traveling in was pulled over a short time later. Officers found a .40-caliber handgun with 10 live rounds in the car.
The off-duty officer later identified Reed, of the 6000 block of South Indiana Avenue, as well as the gun.
Cook County Judge Donald Panarese Jr. set bail at $200,000 for Reed, who was charged with unlawful use of weapon by a felon. Reed was on parole from a drug offense.
