Nine injured in CTA bus crash on West Side

CHICAGO (STMW) - Nine people were injured in a crash involving a CTA bus late Wednesday morning on the West Side.

The crash happened at 26th and Western just before noon, according to police and fire officials.

The No. 49 bus was going northbound through the intersection when a southbound vehicle turned left in front of the bus and they collided, CTA spokesman Jeff Tolman said.

The bus driver and several passengers required medical attention, authorities said.

Eight adults and one child were injured, according to fire media. They were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and Stroger Hospital in fair-to-serious condition. Police said none of the injuries are life-threatening.
