Bond was denied Saturday for a man charged with robbing and shooting a 71-year-old man who was watering his lawn earlier this month in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Antoine J. Davis, 30, faces felony counts of armed robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm, according to Chicago Police.

The elderly man was watering his lawn about noon Sept. 6 in the 7000 block of South California when Davis pulled up on a bicycle, stole the man’s wallet, shot him in the abdomen, and then biked way, police allege. Surveillance footage from a neighbor’s front porch captured the attack on video.

The 71-year-old was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and later transferred in fair condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Davis was arrested Friday afternoon near his home in the 6800 block of South Washtenaw, police said. A judge ordered him held without bond at a Saturday hearing, according to Cook County Circuit Court records. His next court date is Sept. 23.
