Police search for armed robber in Elgin

ELGIN (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Police are searching for a man who robbed a female at gunpoint Wednesday night while she was at an ATM in northwest suburban Elgin.

About 10:30 p.m., the victim had pulled up to an ATM at he Chase Bank in the 1600 block of Larkin Avenue when a male pointed a gun at and demanded her bank card, according to a statement from Elgin police.

The robber then removed money from the female’s account, police said. She was not injured and was able to run away and call police.

The robber is described as a black man, thought to be in his early 20s, standing about 5-feet-7, with a thin build, police said. He was wearing a dark gray or black zip-up hoodie and appeared to have the hood pulled up, covering his head. His face was covered, possibly with a bandana, and he was wearing gloves.
