A driver has already been ticketed after fatally striking Noah Katz and a 39-year-old woman about 4 p.m. in the 4700 block of North Central, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The vehicle made a left turn onto southbound Central from westbound Giddings Street when it hit the pair, police said. A nurse who was nearby when the crash occurred performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived, witnesses said.

The pedestrians were taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where Noah died at 4:48 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the 5600 block of West Leland. The woman’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Alexander Vasquez Jr., 48, was issued one citation for failure to stop at a stop sign, two citations for failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk, and two citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said. He was scheduled to appear in traffic court Dec. 16.

“The investigation is still ongoing and detectives are trying to obtain as much information (video, additional witnesses) as they can,” police announced Monday night.
