Teacher strike continues in McHenry County

MCHENRY COUNTY, Ill. (FOX 32 News) - School is still out in McHenry County again Tuesday, and no one is sure when classes will begin again. The teachers say they don't like anything the school board is offering them.

The union representing the teachers and the school board for district 156 met for hours Sunday night without reaching an agreement. However, both sides of the argument say "movement has been made, just not enough to come to an agreement."

A teachers union spokesperson previously told FOX 32 News the contract negotiations revolve around salary, salary philosophy and the insurance package. Negotiations started in March and the 160 teachers have been working without a contract since its expired in June.

Negotiations are set to resume Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
