Airline passenger fined $500 for saving snack

DENVER (Fox 32 News) - A Colorado woman was fined $500 for saving a free airline snack.

Crystal Tadlock told Fox 31 Denver that she had flown back from Paris on  Delta Airlines. Flight attendants handed out apples, and she saved hers for a snack later on the next leg of her trip.

Once she arrived in the United States, Tadlock said that her bag was searched by a Customs and Border Patrol agent, who found the apple. The agent said the apple was considered "undeclared fruit." The agent refused to let her eat it, or throw it away, she said.
