CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - The office holiday party is an annual excuse to leave work a little early, have some free drinks, and find out what everyone's spouses look like.
But whether you're tight with your co-workers or not, there are some general rules you should try to follow, according to Glamour.
Our first do: Do actually show up! It might be tempting to skip it, but it shows you value your colleagues by going.
Don't arrive late. It shows respect to the organizers if you show up within 15 minutes of the start time, instead of an hour later.
Do keep conversations upbeat, and break out of your comfort zone.
It might be tempting to stick with your close friends and complain about the office but try to focus on non-work topics, and talk to people you might not otherwise have a chance to.
Don't wear anything you wouldn't wear to the office. Even if the function is at night you'll probably want to skip the sparkles. You want the conversation to focus more on you than on what you're wearing.
