Walmart, Aldi frozen pizzas involved in recall over salmonella concerns

(U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

A recall of dry milk powder that could be contaminated with salmonella is affecting dozens of grocery products sold across the country.

Frozen pizzas sold at Walmart and Aldi are included in the group of products that could be contaminated, according to the Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Salmonella concerns

Why you should care:

Eating food that has been contaminated with salmonella can cause salmonellosis, a common bacteria-based foodborne illness. Most infected people will experience fevers, diarrhea or abdominal pains within six hours to six days after eating the foods. The illness can last up to a week. Even though it can cause some hospitalizations, most people recover without treatment.

What's next:

The FSIS is asking anyone who has the pizzas in their refrigerators or freezers to not eat or serve them, but to dispose of them immediately or return to the place of purchase.
