1 driver killed, child hurt after 2 semi-trucks crash in Kankakee County

KANKAKEE CO., Ill. - A driver was killed and a child hospitalized after two semi-trucks collided in Kankakee County, about 50 miles south of Chicago, on Tuesday morning.

Illinois State Police responded to the area of Illinois Route 17 and Bull Creek Road a little after 7 a.m. for a crash involving the two semi-trucks, ISP said.

The driver of one of the trucks lost control of the wheel and hit the front of the second truck. It was unclear why the driver lost control.

One of the drivers died at the scene.

A child was also taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

All lanes of traffic in the area were shut down for some time.
