Shooting in NW Indiana leaves man injured; police searching for suspect

A shooting in Northwest Indiana has left one man hospitalized, and police are searching for the suspect.

What we know:

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Sunday near apartments in the 9600 block of Forrest Drive.

Highland police found several shell casings at the front door of an apartment building. 

Meanwhile, Lake County Dispatch received a report of a man who went into an urgent care facility with a gunshot wound.

Officers confirmed the man was at the clinic and transported him to a nearby hospital. His condition is unknown, police said.

What's next:

Details on the shooting or the suspect have not been released.

Highland police are conducting interviews and Indiana State Police investigators are also looking into multiple crime scenes related to the shooting.

"There is no threat at this time to the public. The investigation into this incident is fluid and ongoing," Highland police said in a press release.
