Chicago River Swim returned after nearly 100 years: Meet the top fundraiser | ChicagoNOW

For the first time in nearly a century, swimmers dove into the Chicago River for a two-mile race through the city’s iconic skyline. Among the 500 competitors, Dr. Paul Sommer stood out — not only for completing the historic swim beneath bridges and alongside skyscrapers, but also for raising more than $37,000 for ALS research, making him the event’s top fundraiser.
