University of Illinois to build nation’s first campus micro nuclear reactor | ChicagoLIVE

The University of Illinois is partnering with Nano Nuclear Energy Inc. to construct the first research microreactor on a U.S. college campus. The 15-megawatt “Kronos” reactor, expected to be completed by 2030, will be built near the Abbott Power Plant in Urbana-Champaign and could power up to 15,000 homes.
