Amp Fit announced a recall of its fitness machines because the equipment could result in an injury.

Approximately 1,900 of these machines are impacted, with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) explaining that the devices don't lock properly and this may allow the arm to swing unexpectedly, and this may cause a risk of a laceration or a serious injury.

The company received 10 reports of the arm on the fitness device not locking properly, resulting in lacerations to the head and bruising to the shoulder, according to the CPSC.

Which fitness machines are recalled?

Why you should care:

Consumer Product Safety Commission officials say the recall involves the MP2 model of the AMP Smart Fitness Machine.

According to the CPSC recall letter, the wall-mounted strength-training provides full-body, resistance-based workouts using an adjustable arm and merges with Amp Fit digital app platform for personalized fitness training.

Are repairs available for the fitness machines?

What you can do:

Consumers with the impacted fitness machine should stop using it immediately and call Amp Fit to schedule a free inspection and repair that will be performed at the individuals’ home by an authorized technician.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission noted that that repair involves the replacement of a part within the shoulder cap of the locking device that helps to "ensure the locking mechanism is fully engaged."
