Dr. Mike: Pig kidney transplant may signal new era in organ transplantation
It's being called a medical breakthrough for the future of organ transplantation. Surgeons successfully transplanted a kidney from a pig into a patient who had been declared brain dead. Surgeons say this is the longest a gene-edited pig kidney has functioned in a human body. FOX medical contributor Dr. Mike Cirigliano joined Good Day Chicago to talk more about it.
