PRODUCER: WFLD’S News Department is seeking an experienced individual for an immediate opportunity in its newsroom as a Producer. The Producer will generate fresh and engaging content to newscasts and digital. He/she is accountable for gathering, writing, editing and producing content along with supporting anchors and reporters. The Producer will edit VOs, SOTs, teases and the occasional PKG for newscasts; mine and facilitate content to news and digital teams; download video and create placeholders within rundown. This person will serve as a “go-to” person for EPs, assignment editors, reporters, photographers and editors regarding editing and video requests. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, or broadcast preferred. Minimum of five years’ experience in a medium to large television market preferred. Ability to mine content from all sources and possess the technological expertise to write, edit, produce and distribute content to all platforms is required. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding the latest ways to utilize social media, both as a news gathering tool and to communicate with our audience. ANCHOR/REPORTER: WFLD has a fantastic opportunity for a News Anchor/Reporter that has a dynamic on-air presence and can connect with our audience. This position requires a candidate that can anchor, report and produce content for the newscast. The News Anchor/Reporter will be responsible for anchoring the newscast and cut-ins, reporting on news, including a regular franchise segment, producing when needed, and contributing to the station’s image in the community. The News Anchor/Reporter will take an active role in daily digital and social media publishing. The right candidate will be self-motivated, organized, possess strong journalism skills and have the ability to connect with our audiences across multi-platforms. Possess a degree in journalism or related field and have at least three years of experience as a News Anchor or Reporter is required; the ability to communicate well in a live setting; the willingness to travel and work weekends/nights required; must have a demonstrable resume reel of live and packaged reports on subjects ranging from serious hard news to lighter, feature stories. Director of Engineering: WFLD Fox 32 Chicago is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering. Reporting to the VP Engineering, the successful candidate will directly supervise the engineering maintenance department staff; develop and implement systems to ensure fault tolerant and error free operation of stations broadcast equipment; oversee the design, installation, and preventive maintenance of broadcast facilities and equipment; establish and maintain internal technical documentation and standards, which ensure stations compliance with FCC, OSHA, EPA, and local regulations; monitors applicable budgets and be responsible for satisfactory completion of assigned projects. Duties also include training technicians in the operation and maintenance of specific equipment for the implementation of applicable procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the television industry with solid design engineering and troubleshooting skills. A degree in Engineering, Broadcast, or IT related field is preferred. Prior management skills, similar position held and/or training experience is highly desired. Working knowledge of the following technologies: full power UHF transmitters, microwave systems, encoding technologies, master control and production automation systems, wired and wireless networking technologies, server and file-based storage hardware, advanced experience with digital video and audio routing, EAS, studio control room and engineering IT systems and a knowledge of electrical systems, UPS, and standby generators and record keeping. Strong follow-through, written communications, and interpersonal skills required. Freelance Production Technician: WFLD/WPWR has an opening for a skilled Freelance Production Technician. The Production Technician will operate auxiliary equipment as part of FOX32's live news and sports productions. These include but are not limited to robotic cameras, graphics and audio. The Production Technician will serve as the technical co-pilot for all news and sports programming. Experience with studio LED lighting, ETC lighting consoles, Ross studio camera robotics, Calrec audio consoles, and Chyron graphics systems is preferred. Candidate should have experience in an automated production control room environment. Interaction with talent and guests using excellent interpersonal communication, verbal skills and a professional demeanor is critical. Others duties may include recording news and programming feeds and tuning in Satellite and Microwave signals. Preparing content for broadcast by ingesting and timing media as well as judging technical quality. Previous experience with or ability to learn Grass Valley iTX master control automation system is also helpful. Knowledge of windows server/client platforms, high performance storage systems, and video encoding/delivery systems is a plus. REQUIREMENTS: Five or more years of television production experience, preferred; strong attention to detail and the ability to proactively isolate and resolve technical problems within network and broadcast systems; a team player that is able to work independently as required; previous experience and knowledge in an IT architecture and infrastructure is a plus.
