Two people are hospitalized — one in critical condition — after a shooting inside a vehicle Wednesday afternoon near St. Sabina Parish on Chicago’s South Side, police said.

One person is dead and another is hospitalized after a shooting inside a vehicle Wednesday afternoon near St. Sabina Parish on Chicago’s South Side, police said.

What we know:

The shooting occurred about 1:25 p.m. in the 7900 block of South May Street, according to Chicago police.

A 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were inside a vehicle when they were shot. The vehicle then crashed into a GMC van. The van’s driver refused medical treatment.

The woman was shot multiple times and taken to LCM Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, police said. 

As of around 6 p.m., police confirmed the woman died at the hospital. Her identity hasn't been released. 

The man was shot in the buttocks and transported to Christ Hospital in good condition.

What's next:

No suspect information has been released and no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
