A child and two adults were shot outside an ice cream and coffee shop in Bronzeville, authorities said.

What we know:

The shooting occurred about 4:48 p.m. in the 3400 block of South King Drive, at the Dunkin and Baskins Robbin in the Lake Meadows Shopping Center.

Chicago police said a dark-colored SUV approached three people — an 8-year-old girl, a 28-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man — and opened fire.

The girl was shot in the foot and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition. The woman was shot in the knee and transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, also in good condition, police said.

The man was shot in the arm, chest and groin and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, according to police.

A window at Dunkin was also damaged by the gunfire.

What they're saying:

Ruwaida Henri finished her workout at the LA Fitness nearby. She said, "It’s very scary to know this. It’s happening while we were in the gym. It’s an active neighborhood. People are always outside. It’s a little scary to know that. It’s terrible. It’s sad."

Larry Young was about to get a cup of coffee after his workout. He said he’s outraged by the shooting.

"It’d be so many people out here. A lot of these people, they can’t even get in their cars, nervous about somebody who’s selling and robbing you and stuff. And you know, I’m saying, before you go up and come out the gym. It’s sad we really can’t do nothing," Young said.

What's next:

Police said at least one suspect was involved, but no arrests have been made.

The investigation remains ongoing.
