Austin teen shot to death

A 15-year-old boy was shot to death Saturday night in the Austin neighborhood.

Chicago police found the Anton Shaw outside of an alley in the 1100 block of North Long just after 11 p.m. with a gunshot wound to his face.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy was the youngest of four children, all living inside their grandmother’s West Side home.

On Sunday evening family and friends held a vigil in honor of the high school freshman, who played for the basketball team at Foreman College and Career Academy.

Shaw’s older brother said Anton was waiting for an Uber to a friend’s house when the shooting happened.

It was just steps away from the home where he lived with his grandmother after his mother moved to the suburbs to escape city gun violence.

Shaw stayed behind to attend classes.

A police source says he was not known to police and had no criminal record.

Police say no witnesses have stepped forward in the shooting and no one is in custody.

Area North detectives are investigating.
