Car-semi crash shuts down part of I-80/94 in northwest Indiana

A serious crash involving a car and a semi-truck caused major delays on I-80/94 in northwest Indiana Tuesday morning.

What we know:

According to Indiana State Police, the crash happened just before 8 a.m. on westbound I-80/94 near Cline Avenue in Gary. It involved a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck and resulted in serious injuries.

Total Traffic reported that one person was taken to a hospital by medical helicopter. They also said three right lanes were blocked, and solid traffic could be seen from I-65.

Drivers were warned to expect lengthy delays.
