Chicago police: 2 teens arrested hours after armed carjacking

A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested hours after allegedly taking a man’s vehicle at gunpoint on Chicago’s West Side.

The backstory:

Police said the teens were taken into custody around 10:20 a.m. on March 26 in the 300 block of West Garfield Boulevard in the Fuller Park neighborhood.

The arrests came about five hours after the pair allegedly took a vehicle from a 52-year-old man in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue in North Lawndale.

Both teens are charged with one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking involving a firearm.

The 17-year-old also faces additional charges, including obstructing identification, possessing ammunition without a valid FOID card, and a citation related to a replica firearm or pellet gun.
