Chicago man arrested minutes after West Side stabbing, house fire

A Chicago man was arrested early Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed another man and set fire to a home on the city’s West Side.

What we know:

Police said Jay Jordan, 36, was taken into custody at around 4:40 a.m. in the 5800 block of West Division Street in the Austin neighborhood.

About 15 minutes earlier, Jordan allegedly started a fire at a home on the same block and stabbed a 32-year-old man, leaving him seriously injured.

He is charged with one felony count of attempted first-degree murder and one felony count of aggravated arson.

What we don't know:

Police have not released details about what led up to the incident or the relationship, if any, between the two men.

What's next:

Jordan is scheduled for a detention hearing on Wednesday.
