Chicago man charged in drive-by shooting that killed 2 teens in Back of the Yards

A Chicago man is facing murder charges for a drive-by shooting last August that killed two teenage boys in the Back of the Yards, authorities said.

Arrest Made in Deadly Double Shooting

What we know:

Adrian Sanchez, 25, is charged with two felony counts of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting on Aug. 3, 2024, according to Chicago police. 

He was arrested Jan. 23, 2025, in the 4600 block of S. Winchester.

Police said Sanchez fatally shot a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy in the 4800 block of S. Winchester.

Authorities allege Sanchez pulled up in a vehicle and began firing a handgun at the teens before fleeing the scene.

Both teens were shot multiple times and taken to Comer Children's Hospital, initially in critical condition. They were later pronounced dead.

What's next:

A detention hearing for Sanchez is scheduled for Jan. 26.
