Chicago man charged in shootout inside Old Town business

A man has been charged in connection with a shootout Saturday night inside an Old Town business on the North Side.

Lamont Morris, 26, allegedly exchanged gunfire with a 32-year-old man who was inside a business in the 1600 block of North Wells Street, according to Chicago police. The 32-year-old was shot in the chest, head and abdomen. He was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Morris was grazed by gunfire on the chest and refused medical attention at the scene. He was arrested in the same block less than an hour later.

Morris was charged with one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID. His detention hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
