Person injured after vehicle window damaged by debris on I-55 in Cook County

One person was injured after their vehicle's window was damaged while traveling on Interstate 55 in Cook County Friday morning.

What we know:

The incident occurred on northbound I-55 at County Line Road near milepost 277 at about 9:31 a.m.

Illinois State Police initially responded to a report of a motorist having their window shot out while driving.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle was not damaged by a gunshot but by other debris, police said.

The condition of the injured person has not been released.

The middle and right lanes of I-55 were briefly closed but reopened around 10:19 a.m.
