Cook County woman arrested in North Carolina, extradited to Chicago on murder charges

Makayla Mitchell, 23, of Park Forest, faces one felony count of first-degree murder and one felony count of murder (strong probability of death or injury).
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Oct. 13, 2024, in the 7300 block of South Greenwood, when Mitchell allegedly shot and killed a 23-year-old man.
Police arrested Mitchell in North Carolina on Tuesday and she was extradited to Chicago.
