CHICAGO - A CTA Red Line train was hit by gunfire on Sunday morning on Chicago’s South Side, leaving one person injured.
What we know:
Police responded to the 0-100 block of W. 95th Street on I-94 around 8:45 a.m., according to the Illinois State Police.
According to police, three suspected vehicles were traveling northbound on the Dan Ryan Expressway discharging gunfire and a nearby CTA train's glass window was hit.
A 46-year-old man on the train was hit by a piece of glass in the face and on his body, police say.
The victim was taken to Trinity Hospital in good condition.
A CTA spokesperson said that service on the Red Line service had been temporarily stopped due to the police investigation but later resumed as normal.
Area Two Detectives are investigating the incident, police say.
