Illinois man killed in head-on crash identified by coroner
GRAYSLAKE, Ill. - A man who was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Lake County Monday morning has been identified.
What we know:
The Grayslake Police Department and Grayslake Fire Protection District responded to the area of 115 South Route 83 at about 8:33 a.m. for a report of a three-vehicle crash.
When officers arrived, they located two of the vehicles with heavy damage following an apparent head-on crash.
According to preliminary information, a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu and a blue 2020 Toyota Corolla were headed south on Illinois Route 83, while a black 2019 Lexus UX was headed north on Illinois Route 83.
The Toyota Corolla was then rear ended by the Chevrolet Malibu. When the Toyota Corolla was struck, the Chevrolet Malibu left its lane and crashed head on with the Lexus UX.
The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu suffered significant injuries and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room.
The Lake County Coroner identified the deceased as 30-year-old Joseph Roon of Lake Villa.
An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday and preliminary results indicate that he died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.
What we don't know:
It is unknown if anyone was cited for the crash or if there were any other injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Grayslake Police Department and MCAT.
