The U.S. and Israel’s war against Iran enters its 30th day Sunday with signs of escalating regional and global risk, as both sides intensify military operations.

An Iranian missile strike on Friday wounded at least 15 American troops at a Saudi air base and damaged multiple aircraft, underscoring Tehran’s expanding retaliation against U.S. forces and allies.

At the same time, Israel has ramped up strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, saying it has significantly degraded Tehran’s capabilities, while Iran continues launching missiles and drones across the region.

The conflict, which has already killed thousands across Iran, Lebanon, Israel, and among U.S. forces, is widening beyond its original fronts.

The U.S. is surging additional troops and equipment into the Middle East, including a Marine deployment aboard the USS Tripoli, while new actors are entering the fight, with Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen launching their first missile toward Israel.

War in the Middle East enters fifth week

On Saturday, the Houthis, an Iranian-backed militant group in Yemen, entered the war by launching a ballistic missile at Israel, as an expeditionary force of 2,500 U.S. Marines arrived in the Middle East. Retired Marine intelligence officer, Hal Kempfer joins LiveNOW's Austin Westfall to discuss.

Iranian forces, meanwhile, "are waiting for the arrival of American troops on the ground to set them on fire and punish their regional partners forever," the country’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said.

Qalibaf added: "Our firing continues. Our missiles are in place. Our determination and faith have increased."
