Joliet police investigation: Shelter-in-place lifted, man detained

JOLIET, Ill. - A police investigation in Chicago's southwest suburbs prompted a shelter-in-place Thursday morning before officials later said the situation was secure.

What we know:

The Joliet Police Department said officers were conducting an investigation in the 400 block of Garnsey Avenue beginning around 9 a.m.

By 9:40 a.m., police said officers were executing a search warrant at a home as part of an ongoing investigation.

At 10:35 a.m., officials said the scene was secure and the shelter-in-place order for nearby residents had been lifted.

Police also confirmed that a man was detained at the scene.

What we don't know:

It remains unclear what led to the investigation and what prompted the search warrant.
