Lawndale community takes different approach to vacant buildings

Instead of razing vacant buildings in the neighborhood, Lawndale residents say it may serve the community better to put youth to work.

Tearing down an abandoned building can cost upwards of $30,000. Some in the West Side's Lawndale neighborhood think its a better use of money to turnaround the decrepit structures than start from scratch.
