Javier Moran | Lake County Sheriff's Office
LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. - A 54-year-old man was arrested Friday night after allegedly attacking an acquaintance with a knife at a motel in unincorporated Libertyville, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 10 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a fight and stabbing at Doe's Motel, 31228 N. US Hwy 45. Upon arrival, they found a 31-year-old man, a motel resident, who had sustained minor cuts to his hand but declined medical treatment.
Investigators said Javier Moran, also a resident of the motel, had been drinking with two people in a motel room when he became argumentative and made threats. Moran left after he was asked to leave but later returned armed with a knife. He reportedly tried to stab the 31-year-old victim, who deflected the attack, suffering minor cuts to his hands. A struggle followed, and Moran was subdued by the victim and another person in the room, officials said.
Moran was transported to a hospital for evaluation due to injuries sustained in the scuffle. After being treated, he was taken into custody.
