Masked men storm suburban Chicago home, hold victim at gunpoint
A group of masked men forced their way into a Winnetka home Sunday evening, holding a resident at gunpoint before fleeing the area.
COOK COUNTY, Ill. - A group of masked men forced their way into a north suburban home Sunday evening, holding a resident at gunpoint before fleeing the area.
What we know:
Officers were called around 5:27 p.m. to a home in the 700 block of Rosewood Avenue in Winnetka for a reported home invasion.
Police said five male suspects were involved, and that one of the men posed as a food delivery worker before the group forced their way into the residence.
The victim was held at gunpoint while the suspects demanded "specific items" from inside the home, according to police.
The victim was eventually able to escape unharmed. The suspects left the scene, possibly in a black Acura RDX SUV without license plates, before police arrived.
The suspects were described as:
- A Black male, wearing a black Nike face gaiter, a black sweatshirt with multiple unknown logos on the front and back, dark-colored pants, purple surgical gloves, white socks, and gray flip-flops. He was carrying a brown paper Outback Steakhouse takeout bag.
- A Black male, wearing a black sweatshirt with the hood up, gray sweatpants, and light-colored gym shoes.
- A Black male with dreadlocks, wearing a red zipper hoodie, white undershirt, ripped light-colored jeans, white/black gym shoes, and a black ski mask.
- A male (race unknown), wearing a black ski mask, black sweatshirt with the hood up, blue skinny jeans, and white gym shoes.
- A male (race unknown), wearing a light colored jacket, dark-colored pants, dark-colored shoes, and purple surgical gloves.
