Mom surprises soldier son on flight home

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - You've heard about stories where a soldier surprises his loved ones with a grand return home but what about when the family turns the tables and surprises the soldier?

That's exactly what one mother from Arizona did.

Army Pvt. Cody Middleton boarded an American Airlines flight in Philadelphia last week to head home to Arizona after six months of basic training.

But the 18-year-old had no idea he was in for the surprise of his life.

Cody's mom, who's a flight attendant, says it was hard keeping the surprise a secret.

She says she told him she was working a flight in Hawaii so he wouldn't get suspicious.
