AURORA - A man armed with a knife was injured in a shooting involving Aurora police Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
What we know:
Police were called at 12:35 p.m. to the 300 block of South Broadway for a report of a person with a weapon and a battery, authorities said. When officers arrived, they found a man barricaded and armed.
Police said the man displayed a knife when officers encountered him. Officers fired shots, striking the man at least once, according to police.
Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived and treated the man. Further details on his condition haven't been released.
The officers involved were taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
Authorities asked the public to avoid the area during the response because of the heavy police presence but said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
