BENSENVILLE, Ill. - A driver is in custody after leading police on a chase that shut down traffic on Interstate 94 Wednesday morning in the north suburbs.
What we know:
Bensenville police responded to Athletico Physical Rehabilitation, located at 460 W. Irving Park Road, after receiving a report of a suspicious gold Lexus in the parking lot.
When officers arrived, the vehicle fled. Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver continued at a high rate of speed.
About an hour later, officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of a Jewel-Osco, 1127 S. York Road.
As police attempted to take the driver into custody, he rammed a Bensenville squad car and fled north on York Road at a high speed, authorities said. Officers then initiated a pursuit.
During the chase, Bensenville police were notified that Stickney police were also seeking the driver in connection with a similar incident in which he allegedly rammed a squad car and fled.
The driver continued north on York Road to Interstate 90 and then onto Interstate 294.
Police deployed four sets of spike strips, deflating the vehicle’s tires. The vehicle continued north before coming to a stop on Interstate 294 near mile marker 13, where the driver was taken into custody.

The suspect has not been identified, and authorities have not said what charges he may face.
